accelerators linked to sandbox, animoca HK's MT Metaverse - and other meta-smart digital cooperation game changers

From lowest to highest tech in one click- why not design the web3 verse you want to befriend all your best selves around before you decide whether crypto is you money of choice -

cases of scaling community's investment in their own sustainability are essential to our 50 years reporting of entrepreneurial revolution started at The Economist- they can be done in low tech forms- this is the miracle story of asian women empowerment - see 30 cooperations abedmooc of which bkash shows what can be done with mainly 2-3g tech foundations (also look at abed3.com for connections with 2020s UN2 modeling of governments aligned to sdg generation

cf 10+ years ago a cooperation platform BKASH representing billion poorest asian women chose cashless banking -its still the most verifiable UN GOal 1 end poverty banking system based on 2G texting numbers ( i realise that in these 2020s we 8 billion beings can't wait to see if 5g and all 5 human senses designed with artificial intel can do a lot more for human advancement) but careless bathing with financial sharks turns out to be what destroys even the son of 2 stanford professors...

blockchain can be the greatest grounding of community data ever - the fact that some crypto barons have done the opposite is not a reason for underestimating blockchain as arguably the biggest maths invention of the 21st c

so how about something completely different just forget about finance people where has the tech moved us

AI (Art Intel) can now augment all oue 5 senses -through globally connected satllietes and literally data-clouds its always collectong data typically from every gps on the planet- sometimes its senses can augment our own minds; certainly it is better at curating  anny operation system linking processes  with a huge amount of details than we are and it can remember which groups of people did what with blocks or spaces its curated them to - eg amazon's alexa has gone from understanding your library to pretty much any purchasing do,main; whats remarkable looked at from viewpoint of us 8 billion beings is we havent yet designed the mirror tool we expected in 1984 - connecting a sklils dashboard with every child or adults learnung path and also recommend what lessons we need to stack next depending on livelihoof etc-

with blockchain web3 users can take back their own data whether its from the college that certified or the big tech company in web 2 era that somehow claimed alll our data was its own

whats a pity is a place where ny government does not yet understand that any market that it provides some services in involves societal data- there may indeed need to be privacies but the analysis needs all the data connections to leap forward

ironically deep data community mapping is something my hero falze abed did in 000 world where he was responsible for maximising how village mothers built 100000 person communities (vilage civil engineering if you like); if we return to my father's 1976 economist survey we will see that each future leap in technology could have empowered far the deepest learning data by building sme networks not big organisations get bigger

there is now so much to do with webs not having been designed since 1990 to maximsie people/community empowerment but i believe that goats of maths who bequested us 100 times more tech expected us to map deeper and for open source benefit at each digital leap; sustainability will return if we make sure that's what we do with metaverse- after a reminder of how deeply  vilage women networked scroll below to jhong kong let metaverse platforms of the people own web3 data, and for an alterntive selection help us find cases at worldclasdaos.com

Gen.T Tribe member Manav Gupta’s VC firm is one with a difference. Since Gupta founded Hong Kong-based Brinc in 2014, the company––which has grown to seven offices all over the world––has invested in and supported the growth of more than 200 startups, all with a focus on making the world a better place.

Now, that mission is set to accelerate, with the announcement from Brinc that they have secured US$130M in funding for startup investments and to help fuel their global expansion. The funding––which was led by Asia’s Most Influential honouree Yat Siu’s Animoca Brands––will be seeded to companies who are pioneering emerging technologies in food, health, energy, climate and deep tech, and allow Brinc to continue its expansion into Web 3.0 investments.

15 years ago I started 16 journeys to bangladesh-at eg abed3.com I share hw all my co-workers i became convinced that  asian village women since 1972  have found a way to save our species when empowered with community treasuries and replicable microfranchises (all or most of whose value stays with the local producers; some of whose positive cash flow may go into purposing the whole value chain nationally or worldwide cooperation platforms- these women have endured much hardship in nation building which in the 20th c involved no access to electricity so no distracting media just maximising community support for each other

as my father at The Economist 1976 Entrepreneurial Revolution debated  worldwide improvement of connectivity (21st C apps) must mean that there is nor reason why a local family franchise cant be what that community most needs as long as space around us is linked in by media/tech/deep data  for humanity valuing everyone's life development as learner and teacher-

having worked on media since i got my MA in statistics from uk's main maths lab DAMTP- i have found western media has accidentally spiralled away from supporting next generation's renewability; in these 2020s web2 has gotten so fat off course that local human safety and love (instead of hate) is currently as rotten as much of europe in 1920s

-.... a long intro to why Oct 2022 I made my first post-covid journey from washington dc t study hong kong designs to web3 daos , and humaising ai, crypto and all that jazz - what I found was a buzz of entrepreneurial humanity in a world class city such as I have never seen before - perhaps it takes a city of world class villages to design the kind of metaverse that could just turn the time from orbits destroying our next generations- -if you see some value in this page's ti=our please tell me where else you find similarly joyful human webbing at work-

Chairman of Animoca Brands

Many of you – particularly those who are new to the crypto space – will understandably have felt quite overwhelmed this last year particularly if you follow the mainstream narrative and negative headlines surrounding crypto & DeFi’s demise.

Word of the crypto winter has spread far and wide, but, for those that understand the nuances of the industry, this actually represents a great investment opportunity, and the downturn we’ve seen is just par for the course in any nascent space.

You only have to look at the work today’s guest has been doing to understand that Crypto and DeFi, spirited by a booming blockchain gaming market, is going to be big business over the next decade. So, trust me when I say, now’s the time to get educated and get involved!

I’ve been very fortunate of course, as I’ve been able to sit down with some of the most significant figures in the world of crypto, blockchain, Web3, and Game-Fi. Someone who is at the forefront of all that is good in the industry is today’s guest, Yat Siu.

Yat Siu is an entrepreneur, investor, and business leader and I’m delighted to welcome him back to London Real. The best part is, this time we get to do it in person, right here at London Real studios.

Yat has been the leading light in technological innovation when it comes to the online gaming space for the last 10 years and as Chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, he is forging new ground in game development, and the complex and often misunderstood world of NFTs.

For Yat and Animoca the business model is simple – to deliver true digital copyrights to all, while investing in companies that share similar values and the common goal to bring more equity to the future of games, while radically changing the future of how we live, play and work for the better.

As a young boy, Yat showed early promise, developing software on an Atari ST, before the company actually approached him with an offer of work. He was just a teenager, but it signalled a lifelong love affair with technology and its potentiality that grows stronger to this day. On moving to Hong Kong in the mid-nineties Yat set up Hong Kong Cybercity, the first free web page and email provider in Asia.

From here, he founded the company Outblaze, a pioneering digital media development company that has been a global leader in Web 2.0 products ever since and offered the earliest version of cloud computing services. At Animoca he and his team developed gaming apps on the emerging smartphone market and racked up over 50 million downloads.

Yat was named World Economic Forum Global Leader of Tomorrow and in 2009 won the Young Entrepreneur Award at the Hong Kong Business Awards. He is a Member of the Board at BAFTA and the Asian Youth Orchestra and we are delighted to have his insight and expertise on London Real.

Yat has come a long way and while many others have been keeping their powder dry during these lean last few months, Yat and the team at Animoca have been on something of an investment blitz. Yat’s focus is very much on you, the user, and to ensure ownership over virtual properties by breaking up the empires of Meta and Microsoft, which he describes as “digital dictatorships”.

“The investors who are participating in this believe in this vision… a more decentralised, distributed property rights framework is actually one that provides better prosperity. And so unless you’re the monopoly unless you’re the power, then it’s to everyone’s benefit that we see this world happen rather than have one that is controlled by the few.”

Animoca is changing the world and Yat’s vision is relentlessly moving the needle forward. With a couple of significant and successful raises already this year, and a ton of investment ongoing, Animoca and Yat are making a mockery of the cold crypto forecasts and mainstream doom-mongering.

Animoca is forging a new world of digital entertainment. They were named in the Financial Times list of high-growth companies and the standard bearers in their contributions and conversations around the meaning and potential of an open metaverse. Recent analysis values Animoca at just shy of $6 billion, but for Yat, that’s just scratching the surface.

I can’t wait for this one and trust me, if you’re in the crypto wilderness, concerned about your investments, a fan of traditional gaming, or just keen to learn more about blockchain, this episode is a must-see. Yat is an incredibly charismatic and engaging individual who is empowering innovation across the globe.

He believes in openness and democracy as we build a brave new future with shared ideals. His goal is to establish true digital property rights for everyone. After all, to own your data is to own your future and with that comes freedom, something you might have heard me talk about, on occasion!

On November 15, 2011, mobile games developer Animoca raised an undisclosed amount of funding in a Series A round led by Intel Capital and IDG-Accel (which tapped its China Growth Fund III).[22] In 2014 Animoca Brands was spun out from Animoca, and the new entity listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in January 2015.[23]

In March 2018, Animoca Brands launched OliveX which builds mobile games to gamify the fitness industry.[24]

On 15 August 2018, Animoca Brands raised a $1 million investment from Sun Hung Kai and $0.5 million from strategic partner Lympo.[25] On 18 December 2018, Animoca Brands announced that it had completed a US$547,000 placement to institutional and sophisticated investors, a portion of which would be applied towards funding its investment in artificial intelligence accelerator Zeroth.ai.[26]

In May 2019, Animoca Brands raised $2.5 million to fund the development of a blockchain version of the video game The Sandbox based on user-generated content.[27] Then, in March 2019, Animoca Brands raised another $2.01 million in cash and cryptocurrency for The Sandbox from investors that included Square Enix, B Cryptos, and True Global Ventures.[28]

On 9 March 2020, Animoca Brands delisted from the Australian Securities Exchange.[4]

In September 2020 Animoca Brands launched the blockchain racing ERC-20 utility token "REVV" on Uniswap, which was subsequently listed on various other exchanges.[29]

In May 2021 Animoca Brands raised a first tranche of US$88,888,888[30] followed in July 2021 by the second tranche of US$50 million, both of which were based on valuation of US$1 billion.[31][32][33] In October 2021 Animoca Brands raised $65 million at a valuation of $2.2 billion from Ubisoft, Sequoia Capital and others.[34][35] In November 2021 SoftBank led a $93 million investment in Animoca Brands' The Sandbox.[36]

On March 15, 2022, Animoca Brands announced it would shut down the F1 Delta Time game the next day.[38][16] The game had previously been lucrative, holding the record for most expensive NFT of 2019 and with some transactions exceeding US$300,000. Sales within the game had flat-lined for the two years preceding the game's closure. The company announced plans to replace the game's non-functional NFTs with equivalent tokens for REVV Racing, a separate game which doesn't have Formula 1 branding.[16][39]

Later in March 2022, they invested with Ubisoft in 12$M round for blockchain game "Cross The Ages". [40]

In April 2022, Animoca Brands acquired the Lyon-based video game developer, Eden Games.[41]

On 21 June 2022 Animoca Brands Corporation Limited was convicted on charges of failing to lodge annual and half-yearly financial reports with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.[42]

In July 2022, Animoca Brands hits $5.9 billion valuation.[43] In August 2022 Temasek with GGV Capital lead a $110 million funding round for Animoca Brands at a $6 billion valuation to make it “pre-IPO ready”.[44][45][46][47][48]

survey 1of child centric education

IF SCHOOLS were child centric they would make age relevant interventions:

if anyone is illiterate at age 6 it only takes 90 days to change that - best of all a literate kid can be main helper in 20 minute session - see sunita gandhi

finacial literacy would be practicsed from age 8 - see aflatoun ( works in 100 countries

from age 10 pre-teens would have access to pfysical and mental health studies designed peer to peer -see Lancet

no kid would leave primary school without knowing how open space meetings/teamwork is facilitated

teachers would be celebrated for clarifying which skills involve experiential learning not classroom examination - while there is some recognition that music and sports involve practice, its shocking that coding isnt valued this way ..

==============

Do you have life-changing moment to share? - what was it and what did you think or do differently after it?

example until 9/11, i assumed that (good) futures are happening somewhere in the world and would be searched out so that all could communally replicate them;  === 9/11 caused me to question whether global connectivity will give us time to find sustainable solutions for our kids- i became particulaly interested in places where good education leaps appeared but did not get app'd the world over - one example actually goes back to my favorite 1990s advances in schools that a small cliuster of new zealand schools pioneered - download it here https://oiipdf.com/download/the-learning-revolution

i welcome discussion of this book's parts at any time rsvp chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk if you have a solution every community that develops youth could be cooperational

in 1984our book with economist editors 2025report made the case for 40 year commitment to every child identifying own skils dashboard and maximising AI curation of this- we valued this as sustainability critical worldwide cooperation - we see no logic for changing this concern

== we live in an age where most up to half of knowhow of techforgood changes every 3 years - we needed mindsets for exploration not for being standard examined; a nation that makes its college students its largest debt class is likely to collapse economically socially environmentally if web3 is designed for celebrating sustainability cooperation; and if web3 is not designed for neough yout to linkin the first sustainability generation then we are all heading the way of the dodo

I am learn to learn

chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk

TECH - What is IT? and which exponential multipliers most impact human and natural futures?

AI   >. silicon chip singularity (ie when one chip > one brain in pure analytical capacity) - science fictiion no moore

who programs the ai - the race to include lost voices eg girls- the world of statistics re=-examined like never before (eg previously mass statistics very weak at coding meaining from numbers)

Biotech  >> Affective science (loveq and emotional intelligence remains human's unique edge over artificials for at least 10 more years!)

Some people say that Virtual or Augmented Reality has advanced at its best so far in last 12 months that there are hardly any qualified teachers only pioneering explorers- does this matter - well its VR which is your gateway to web3 - intead of just a mobile device you will like wear  a visual sensor system; equally others argue that you shouldnt worry about how fast you put googles on - what you should want is to take back ownbership of what you spend time creating virually- look at the small print of the big platforms you probably dont own anything without them..maybe this is a generation issue bu interstingly the met-generation can now work on chnaging anything that old systems are destroying (eg climate) ...t

IOT which things will now have brains and be as mobile connected as you are

Crypto - can communities celebrate financiang their own most urgent sustainability cooperations? if they dont who wil?

Cyber >> Drone - opportunities and threats of public spaces- first in spaces like the arctic circle if we dont use drones we will get no warning before the big meltdown

-the mkist memorable western campus event i attended in 2010s was tufts colllaboratory summit convened mainly by arctic circle youth under 25;

one of the main debates how to help teachers in arctic circle schools empower their students to use virtual reality to visit other arctic circles schools communities; many of the changes and solutions are analogous; I am reminded by educators leading the compilation of virtual realty libraries of the DICE acronym - a reen might want to do something dangerous like climb everest, why not VR simulate that? there are impossible things a trainee doctor will never be able to travel inside a humans gut but that can be VR'd; there are catastropghic simulations - you would rid the world of bees just to test if donald is wrong about nature being more powerful than he is, you can simulate it; or the future of smart tourism may be curation of what a community is proudest of being visited for - this way ecotourism, cultural appreciation exchanges can be twinned to maximise celebration of each other- and by the way friends of the tourist can join in virtually- of corse this raises a metaverse question - that Hong Kong is leading the world on

being 100% public - good and bad hacs- note context matters - context 1 smart city context 2 isolated vilalge no moore context 3 make a huge land safe at borders
